resident artist program
The Clay Studio Is now accepting applications for The Resident Artist Program.
The Resident Artist Program offers individuals the opportunity to further develop their work, to establish professional contacts and standards, and to work within a community of like-minded individuals in an urban environment. Once chosen as a resident artist, one is entitled to retain their residency for up to five years.
A residency at The Clay Studio includes:
- Personal studio space (approximately 185-195 sq. ft.)
- Use of four electric and two gas kilns (specs available upon request)
- A glaze mixing area
- Teaching opportunities
- Exhibition opportunities
Studio spaces for each Resident Artist are rent free through August of 2013. The Studio will know if this subsidy will be renewed prior to asking Residents to commit to the program. Should funding for this subsidy not be renewed, the monthly rent per Resident Artist will be $250.00. A $250.00 refundable security deposit and a yearly Clay Studio membership fee of $50.00 are also required upon entry into the program. Resident Artists also pay for the materials they use and firings, those costs based on individual usage. Residents share common housekeeping work and contribute time to The Clay Studio as well.
