Celebrate clay and community with a fun day of muddy festivities near our soon-to-be new home in South Kensington! Join us for hands-on activities for all ages, wheel throwing demos, a group sculpture extravaganza, artist projects, an ice cream social, screen printing totes, and music! LOCATION: 1425 N. 12 PM - 6 PM: Guest Artist Project with Cesar Viveros
Help turn 1,000 pounds of clay into a playful, collaborative work of art lead by artist Cesar Viveros.
12 PM - 6 PM: Guest Artist Project with George Rodriguez
Watch and learn from guest artist, George Rodriguez, as he creates a large-scale figure, and have your chance to make decorations for the piece!
12 PM - 6 PM: Screen Printing with Little Chair Printing
Learn how to screen print your own tote bag under the guidance of teaching artist extraordinaire Hope Rovelto.
12 PM - 6 PM: Wheel Battles & Demonstrations
Watch our talented teaching artists demonstrate a variety of wheel throwing techniques and hourly Wheel Battles will add a little friendly competition to the day!
12 PM – 6 PM: Clay Animation
Create and animate clay characters using the art of stop motion. One person or a group can create characters, a storyline, and bring your creations to life.
12 PM – 6 PM: Pottery Unplugged
Try our people-powered pottery wheel. Find a partner to pedal power the bicycle wheel while you try your hand at throwing on the pottery wheel!
12 PM – 6 PM: Photo Booth
Grab your favorite clay props and strike a pose!
12 PM - 2 PM: Clay Necklaces
Create your own necklace with beads and clay pendants made by teaching artist Nitza Rosario. Quantities are limited
12 PM – 3 PM: Pinch Pot Planters
Make a small terracotta planter for your favorite succulent.
12 PM – 4 PM: Face Painting with Golden Brownie Art
12 PM- 3 PM: Impressions with Plants
Combine clay and nature by creating a small plate with plant impressions which will add an intriguing surface to your form.
2 PM-4 PM: A Hands-On Ice Cream Social
Decorate a bowl with decals inspired by the neighborhood! Each bowl is made by local artist, Duc Tang, and The Clay Studio will glaze, fire, and have your bowl ready for you to pick up in a few weeks. Then enjoy ice cream provided by Franklin Fountain. Ice Cream & Bowl quantities are limited
3 PM - 5 PM: Music by Interminable
3 PM – 6 PM: Sgraffitto Tiles
Express yourself! Make and decorate your own ceramic tile, using colored slips and the sgraffito
(scratching) method.
3 PM – 6 PM - CPR Trays
Get your blood pumping with this fun technique for making a ceramic tray that you will decorate with brightly colored slips.
