In the first show of its fall season, The Clay Studio Gallery presents the work of Judy Axelrod in her first solo show, "Terra Cotta", opening September 24. Ms. Axelrod's interest in the decorative aspects of Indian art and Early American craft forms is manifested in this new body of work. One of a kind functional ceramic pieces provide an earthen red surface for Ms. Axelrod's painterly talents and many colorants are utilized to produce a rich surface decoration.
Ms. Axelrod has been working in the clay medium for six years, receiving her formal training at Moore College of Art. She has made many trips to the American Southwest to expand her personal collection of Indian pottery and crafts. This show continues through October 15. Gallery hours are 2-5 pm Monday through Saturday.
