Juried Solo Exhibition: David Tipton
In the first of a series of juried invitational shows, David Tipton shows his "Recent Drawings and Ceramic Sculpture" at The Clay Studio Gallery, 49 North Second Street opening Jan. 15.
A recent MA graduate of Ohio University. Mr. Tipton utilizes both clay and paper to express his concepts of fantasy, mystery and containment. The bright colors of both his pencil and clay work serve to emphasize the use of ambiguous spatial relationships and at the same time, they serve to draw the viewer closer to his very playful characterizations.
The show, which was juried by Anne Bevans, William Daley Kathryn Narrow and Kenneth Vavrek, continues through January 30. Gallery hours are 2-5, Monday through Saturday. The public is cordially invited to the opening reception, Friday January 15 from 6-9 pm.
