Mattie Lacognata is a multimedia artist currently residing in Philadelphia. Mattie has received their BA in Visual Arts and Art History through the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Some examples of the media they work in include, but are not limited to, ceramics, illustration, digital photography, sculpture, and performance art with a thematic focus on community, joy, playfulness, and whimsy. They also have a focus and love of event production, specifically in the realm of LGBT+ performance art and theater. Through their involvement in the DIY and nightlife scenes of both New Brunswick and Philadelphia, Mattie is an advocate for providing a means of artistic expression to all who want to participate in the community. Mattie has a lifelong passion for the arts that has been nurtured through the artists that has taught and supported them through the years. As a teaching artist for the Claymobile program at The Clay Studio, Mattie is excited to continue their work of providing a means of art making and creative expression to the community at large.
