Where are you from and what brought you to Philadelphia?
I'm from Berkeley, California. I came to Philadelphia as part of a post-college migration with friends. I fell in love with the city and have been here 10 years now!
What drew you to the arts/clay?
Art has always been a big part of my life. I spent my childhood summers in New Mexico with my grandmother, a potter. She and her studiomate always encouraged me to experiment with their supplies! I loved having a tangible way to problem-solve and a safe space to fail and try again.
What’s your favorite part about working at The Clay Studio?
Through Claymobile, I get to collaborate with a wonderful group of community-minded teaching artists to bring arts education all over Philadelphia. It's been an exciting way to learn more about my city and its spaces and ensure that Philadelphians have access to the experiences that were so formative (and fun!) to me!
What’s your favorite place in Philadelphia?
It's not one place but I'm a huge fan of the public pools in Philadelphia! They are a great way to get a little exercise, cool off, and have fun in the summer. My goal is to make it to all of them one day!
